Four years old!

We are the proud parents of a four year old!  I can hardly believe how the years have flown by.  My only wish is that time would slow down so I could continue to enjoy this sweet little girl.

AA’s birthday was an absolute BLAST!  It started out with our traditional birthday breakfast of, you guessed it, MONKEY BREAD!  I think Daddy enjoys this the most!  Then AA got to choose any activity she wanted to do in the morning, and she chose watching her new Tangled movie.  Then we had he very first swim lesson of the year!  AA did fantastic and had improved greatly since her last swim lesson last year.  Then we had dinner at AA’s favorite restaurant, Red Lobster, where AA and Landon had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a lobster friend.  Then we finished off the night with AA’s first trip to build-a-bear.  AA made a furry friend named “Velveteen Rabbit”, and hasn’t parted with her since.  She is a wonderful addition to our home!

The next weekend, we had AA’s fourth birthday bash with all of her friend.  It was an Ice cream birthday party, with all the fixings!  We had “Pin the cherry on the ice cream cone”, an ice cream toss game with points, musical chairs, and a pinata that AA made herself (with a bit of mommy’s help).   The kids also made their own ice cream sundaes, and since the weather was so warm, went on the waterslide bounce house.

It was a blast.  AA was EXHAUSTED by the end of the day.  In fact, at the end of the party, but before all the guests had left, I found AA zoned out on the couch with a book.  She told me she was tired from all the fun!  Needless to say, she slept well that night.

Here are some pictures from AA’s actual birthday, then from her birthday party:

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful 4 year old daughter.  It feels like I blinked and these last four years just flew by.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to raise AA, and teach her to be the young woman God created her to be!  Please keep praying for this sweet little girl, that God guides her and that she is sensitive to his calling as each year passes.  We love you sweet doodle bug!

Adventures in homeschooling!

We have decided to bite the bullet, and start homeschooling AA.  So far it has been a huge challenge, as I find myself so engrossed in the teaching and planning that I find time for little else during the day.  But, it has been very fun so far, and I can see that Aubrey Ann truly enjoys learning with Mommy.
I am not sure what we will do once summer approaches, but for the next couple of weeks we will continue on with or regular school routine.  I am so blessed to have the opportunity to stay home and teach our children about God and the wonderful world he created.  Please pray for an extra dose of patience when I teach math, as I find myself becoming frustrated, and AA becoming bored.  It is neither of our cups of tea!  I just might have to recruit Daddy for some help!
