My sweet, sweet boy!

Over the years, AA has gotten her fair share of posts devoted solely to her, so I thought maybe it was time to devote a post to our little man.

Dearest Landon,

The first thing I hear from you every morning is singing.  “Life is a highway, I’m gonna drive it all night long…bum bunna bum bum”.  If I am already awake, then I am patiently waiting for your little voice to echo down the hall.  If, by chance I am still sleeping, then I wake with joy.

You have natural charm.  Everyone who comes into contact with you is immediately smitten.  From the grocery store clerks (who all know to give you a sticker every time we go through the check out stand), to the librarians who know you by name, you are easily loved.

I love how you want to include me in all that you do.  When I swing you, you always want me to swing in the swing next to you.  When we play, you want my cars to talk to your cars as we drive along the “highway”.

I love the way you go running through the house calling, “Mama!  Wes are you?” When you find me you wrap my leg in the biggest hug.

I love the way you dance.  You spin around and around, or bounce up and down in short bursts.  You are so full of joy.

Everything you do, you do with great passion.  You are not easily frustrated by minor annoyances.  You will work on something forever until you can make it work.  You get that from your Daddy.

Speaking of Daddy, you are his biggest fan.  Every time the garage door opens you light up with absolute joy.  Daddy spends his time on the floor playing “lego cars”, tinker toys, and trains with you daily.  You never get enough Daddy time.

I love the way you snuggle into my neck when you hug me.  I love the sound of your silly laugh.  It starts with a small giggle and ends with a inhaled screech.

I love that the other day, when mama needed to cry, you sat down next to me and said, “It’s ok mama, don’t cry.”  Then you would hug my shoulder and kiss me and say, “There!” as if you had magically made my world brighter.  And the truth is, you had.

You get a wild streak around other kids.  I often find my mellow little guy running around with the crowd of older kids, attempting to conquer anything they do.  You like to test when Grandma’s are around, as if you know that they have a soft spot for you (and I don’t blame them!).  Again, your charm serves you well!

You are smart.  You love all things “school”, and much of it seems to come naturally to you.  Every morning you ask if we can do the “Calendar” which is our circle time binder.  If I ask you something you don’t know, you will tilt your head to the side and rest it on your hand and say, “Um….hmmmmm….I can’t member!”

You love to please.  If I call you from another room you will call back, “Yes mommy, and I would be happy to!”  You love to see the smile on our faces when you come so eagerly!

You are such a snuggler.  When you snuggle into my neck I feel like the whole world just stops.

Every night you ask Daddy to “talk”.  What you really mean is tell stories.  Daddy always tells stories about rolling rocks, donuts, tumbling trees, and in the morning, you will repeat them to me.

Everyday I pray that God makes you a man like your Daddy.  I pray that you would love like him.

I love the way you hug onto my leg and snuggle.  I love the way you give slobbery kisses with your eyes wide open.  I love how your hugs end with “mama….I luff you”.

I “luff” you too son.  I “luff” you too.
